My great grandfather Mr James, started the butchery business in a small village called Little Haven in Pembrokeshire prior to the First World War. After the war he joined forces with his uncle’s business ‘James Brother’ in Milford Haven as they needed a younger person in the business, at that time there was a large fishing fleet in Milford haven and James brothers supplied meat to a lot of the trawlers.

After the Second World War, my great grandfather brought two of his sons into the family business, Arthur James who ran the 4 shops in Milford Haven and Mr George James ran the farm, which supplied meat to the shops. My father Mr Jon James, having been to the Smithfield meat college, worked in the family business from 1967, until 1975 when I was born, he then went on his own venture, and opened a shop in Milford haven. Then in 1984 bought the butchers shop in Haverfordwest from which we are still trading from today.

I joined my father from school having studied the meat trade at the Blackpool and Fyled meat college, and I am now running the day to day butchery business with my daughter Jess.

Mr Paul Jones, joined the company June 2015, he is an experienced butcher having been in the trade for over 20 years and followed his father who was also in the meat trade for many years. He will be assisting in preparing your orders on a day to day basis.
